Fall is one of my favorite seasons for family photography. The beautiful colors, cozy sweaters, golden leaves, and crisp autumn air make the perfect backdrop for capturing memories with your favorite people.

But there's one question I hear almost every year...

"What are we all supposed to wear?!" 😂

And listen, I get it. Coordinating outfits for the entire family can feel like a full-time job. Add a toddler who suddenly decides they hate the outfit you picked out, and things get interesting really quickly!

The good news? It doesn't have to be complicated!

I've put together some of my favorite fall family photo color palettes and styling tips to make planning your outfits a little easier.

Coordinate, Don't Match!

Gone are the days when everyone needed to show up wearing matching white shirts and jeans!

Instead, choose a few colors that complement each other and build your family's outfits around them. Mix different shades, textures, and fabrics to create a coordinated look that still allows everyone's personality to shine.

The goal is to look like you belong together, not like you're all wearing a family uniform! 😂

Fall Color Palettes I Love

Whether you prefer soft neutrals, rich autumn colors, or something a little more classic, these combinations photograph beautifully against the gorgeous fall scenery throughout Westchester County, NY, and Greenwich, CT.

A Few Simple Styling Tips

Now that you've picked your colors, let's talk about putting everyone's outfits together!

A few simple choices can make a big difference in how your family photographs turn out. And no, you don't need to buy an entirely new wardrobe!

At the End of the Day, Just Be Yourselves!

Here's the thing about family photos...

Years from now, you're probably not going to remember whether everyone's outfits were perfectly coordinated, if someone's hair was out of place, or if your toddler refused to smile. 😂

What you WILL remember are the laughs, the cuddles, those tiny little hands, and all the moments that made your family exactly who they were at that point in time.

As a family photographer, my goal has always been to capture those genuine connections. The perfectly imperfect moments that you'll look back on years from now and treasure.

So pick outfits you love, make sure everyone is comfortable, and leave the rest to me!
